Police and public to share Newmarket wi-fi

The network, launched by Auckland mayor John Banks last week, promises return-on-investment from cost-savings from reduced crime — including policing costs, insurance premiums and repairs — as well as allowing service providers to sell wi-fi access to end-users or provide wi-fi to the public for free.
