Node and Network Controller Software

RoamAD's wireless networking platform software components comprise intelligent network node software, gateway software, and network controller software, all which is administered via RoamAD's web-based management interface called RAMP.

The system architecture has been built with the philosophy of ensuring centralized control with de-centralized intelligence. De-centralization of intelligence (at the network edge) is a pre-requisite for fast-roaming networks supporting high-speed mobile VoIP/VoWiFi.

RoamAD's node and network creation and configuration options are unmatched from a flexibility and functionality perspective.

Whether deploying a secure 4.9GHz public safety network for first responders using 900MHz or 5.8GHz as backhaul, or deploying a converged citywide Wi-Fi network three-dimensional coverage and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for public access Internet together with secure with secure and prioritized VoIP communications and 5.8GHz for back and corporate access, RoamAD's solution gives you the most configuration options.

RoamAD's platform supports up to four radios per node using any combination of 900MHz, 2.4GHz, 4.9GHz, and 5 GHz for either backhaul or end user access. Backhaul options include point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, multipoint-to-multipoint, or in RoamAD's infrastructure-mesh mode.

The software running on RoamAD nodes is remotely upgradeable to allow for rapid adoption of new radio technologies and new application functionality.

Feature and configuration options include:

  • Multi-radio selection (activate between 1-4 radios per node)
  • Radio frequencies supported: 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz, 5 GHz (in any combination)
  • Highly flexible network topology options (select RoamAD's Infrastructure-Mesh, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, multipoint-to-multipoint modes)
  • Variable and fixed Transmit Power Control (TPC)
  • Channel assignment per operating frequency — manual, Auto Channel Selection, or Dynamic Frequency Control (DFS)
  • Secure VPN between RoamAD network servers
  • DNS, DHCP and NAT services
  • Turbo Mode on 802.11a/g — 108 Mbps transmission rate.
  • QoS settings:
    • WMM providing 4 access classes or queues
    • Traffic priority (based on traffic type)
    • Data rate-limit per end user
    • IP QoS rules auto-converted to WMM
  • Supports global roaming
  • Multiple BSSIDs / Virtual APs:
    • Up to 8 SSIDs (including 7 VAPs) configurable on each physical radio deployed
    • Unique QoS and security profiles per VAP
    • Allows multiple networks to share the same infrastructure
    • Allows separate splash-pages (landing pages) per VAP
    • Allows Authentication to separate RADIUS servers per VAP
  • Radio modes (per radio):
    • Dedicated backhaul
    • Dedicated end user access
    • Both backhaul and end user access
  • Redundancy configuration support:
    • Redundant wireless link options
    • RF coverage signal (overlapping signal from different nodes)
    • Auto Ethernet port activation
    • Backhaul wireless routes (dynamic failover for high-availability infrastructure-based networks)
    • Redundant Intelligent Network Servers
