Security

The RoamAD platform has been designed from the outset with security in mind. The platform's underlying software architecture is modular allowing the easy adoption and support of standards-based security and authentication methods.

RoamAD's unique approach of decentralizing intelligence, to include security and policy enforcement at the network edge, coupled with centralized control, further enhances the network's security.

Other security and authentication features include:

  • Firewall per node
  • RoamAD 'Every-Node' authentication system (allows peer to peer blocking prior to authentication)
  • Authentication (802.1x, RADIUS)
  • Encryption (WEP, WPA & WPA2 (enterprise and personal), AES, TKIP)
  • Supports VPN pass-through
  • Management traffic (AES or SSH between nodes)
  • Hierarchical permissions (admin)
  • Traffic filtering: Port, Packet, IP address
